1. Service Description
PDF417 Studio ("Service", "we", "us") is a barcode generation tool accessible at https://pdf417-studio.com (the "Site") and via a developer API. The Service generates PDF417 barcodes on demand for lawful, general-purpose use cases including inventory management, boarding passes, event ticketing, product labeling, and developer workflows.
Use of the Service is subject to these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and our Acceptable Use Policy. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by all three documents.
2. Acceptable Use
Your use of the Service is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, incorporated here by reference. Key restrictions:
- No identity-document fabrication. You may not generate barcode payloads intended to mimic, forge, or fabricate official government credentials (driver's licenses, passports, state IDs, military IDs, or any AAMVA-compliant identity documents).
- No fraud or misrepresentation. You may not use the Service to further any illegal activity, fraud, or misrepresentation.
- No API abuse. You may not circumvent rate limits, distribute API keys to unauthorized users, or conduct denial-of-service attacks.
Violation of these restrictions may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account and API access without refund.
3. Accounts and API Keys
Certain features of the Service (paid tiers) require an account or an API key.
- Account accuracy. You are responsible for providing accurate account information and keeping it current.
- API key security. Your API key is issued once and is your responsibility to secure. Do not share it publicly. We cannot recover a lost key; you may request a replacement through your account settings [feature pending].
- Key validity. Keys are valid for the billing period of an active paid subscription. Cancellation or failed payment deactivates your key.

4.4 Upgrades and Downgrades
Plan changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
4.5 Refunds
We offer a 7-day refund on first-time purchases of any paid plan, upon request via [email protected]. Subsequent billing periods are non-refundable. Refunds are not available if your account has been suspended for AUP violations.
4.6 Free Tier
The Free tier is provided as-is, with no service guarantees. We may modify or remove Free tier features with reasonable notice.
5. Privacy
Our collection and use of your data is described in our Privacy Policy. Key points:

The Service, its code, design, documentation, and trademarks are owned by or licensed to PDF417 Studio. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service itself.
6.2 Your Content
You retain all rights to the barcode payloads you submit. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your payloads solely to generate and return the requested barcode images. We do not store or reproduce your content beyond this purpose.
6.3 Generated Output
Barcode images generated by the Service may be used by you for any lawful purpose consistent with these Terms.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or the AUP.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings [pending]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Upon termination, your API keys are immediately deactivated.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on the Site and, if you have an active paid subscription, by email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), unless you opt out in writing within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Class action waivers apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
